I want to talk to you today about why me recording the video outside in the winter is probably as silly as you spending lots of hours in social media , for your online marketing efforts.

In today’s video, I want to talk about social media and really what I want to talk about is the right way to do social media. Quite a lot of people, no, most people don’t know how to use social media properly and most business owners, most professionals who are trying to win business and build a brand and also build the following spend too much time on social media versus spending time on actual content creation.
What do I mean by that? Well, recently I was talking on a live event and I had one business owner say “It is okay, when I send out a message it goes to eleven thousand people on Facebook” and I said that’s great. But what happens if Facebook turn off your account, how many people can you email? Not many people, okay. How much value is on your website? Not a lot.
The Best Way to Put Valuable Content For Your Website
So that’s one business owner who is spending a lot of time and effort on someone else’s platform, Facebook. And that business owner is not alone. Okay? From a coaching perspective, as a coach, what you try to do? You are trying to look for people who may need your services. So how can you do that? Let’s put enough valuable content to educate them on the need for your services; and the best way to do that is to build that on your website, write in blog posts to videos like this, which will attract more people to your site. It gives them an opportunity o sign up for something on your site and offer and then that will allow you to gently market to them and offer them the next step in your process, in your sales process. Whether that is an educational video, whether that’s a webinar or even whether that is a 15minutes conversation with you. That’s the next step in your process which all started from someone looking for help with something and finding the information on your website.

I am going to talk more about other tips for your website and how to grow your online presence. But today it’s all about, don’t spend too much time on social media or spend too much effort on someone else’s platform, whether that’s Facebook, Twitter, YouTube. If they turn your account off, you are in trouble. Whereas you own your own website, you should own your own website, you should own your own domain and that means that’s your real estate on the web that you want to own and protect and add much value to it as much as possible.
